You couldn’t take an annual leave on New Year’s, therefore partying and travelling are off the table. A lot of your coworkers took the day off, so you, the victim have to be at the office. Yeah I feel you. I think you should make the best out of it, instead of just swiping through Instagram and being jealous of all your coworkers who are by the beach right now. I decided to make you a list of things you can do if you’re staying home for whatever reason.
Gather up your other unfortunate friends and cook
Nothing makes anyone happier than food! Go grocery shopping and buy everything you need to make your favorite meal, extra special. Call up one of your friends that happen to also be staying in and join forces. Listen to nice music, Michael Bubble is highly recommended especially at this time of the year.
Perform a burning ceremony
Performing a burning ceremony can be done alone or with your loved ones. In a nutshell, you’ll start by writing what you want to let go of, then you’ll burn that piece of paper. By burning away the past, you can free yourself from any regret, sorrow, or pain, and look forward to a brighter future. Let the burning ceremony allow you to sense a feeling of closure, and move on. Be safe, obviously.
Redecorate your room at home
Start with cleaning out your closet and donating the clothes you don’t wear anymore, you’ll definitely make someone’s day. Then redecorate, paint your walls a new color, go shopping at IKEA and maybe get those cushions and fairy lights you really liked. Or buy that Ariika bean bag you’ve always wanted.
Get a haircut and have a nice bubble bath
You’ve been overthinking whether to get that new haircut or not. Well, today is the perfect opportunity to take the risk! Give yourself a new look, then go home and treat yourself right. Get a nice bath bomb, light up some candles and enjoy yourself.
Make a vision board
I highly recommend this to everyone, even if you’re having the time of your life this New Year’s, this is certainly something you should do. Get a big pin board and hang it somewhere you always look at. Whether its in your room or office, simply stick everything that you dream of achieving, no matter how small it is. If you want to be a tennis player, hang a picture of your favorite tennis player. If you want to buy a new car, hang your dream car. Fill that board with your tinniest dreams and look at them every day. Having a vision board creates an emotional connection that motivates you, makes dreams seem possible, and most importantly helps you clarify what you want out of your life because it literally forces you to put something down.
