The African Union to Unveil the Design for a Single Passport for All Africans Next Month

The African Union (AU) has just unveiled plans to issue an African passport to help promote trade and free movement of people within the continent.

Moussa Faki Mahamat, Chairperson of the AU, has announced that further details on the passport’s design, production and issuance will be revealed at the 32nd Summit of the AU that will be taking place in February.

The African passport was first introduced back in 2016 and has been exclusive to heads of states and diplomats and it is said to have high security features — it is now, however, being extended to citizens.
