Throughout this period, they have managed to form a new business culture and new traditions with a unique oriental imprint. Let’s put it straight, Syrian businesses are definitely rocking Egypt and they need to be acknowledged.
Below is a list of Syrian businesses that sprouted intensely through different industries in Egypt over the past few years.
Pompelo — Children’s Clothing
Ismail Radwan, Founder of Pompela, opened the factory in 2013, which then resulted in him opening the first branch of his store a year later. Pompela has eight branches across Egypt today, located in Rehab Mall 2, City Center, Mall of Egypt, Mall of Arabia and so much more.
Rayahen — Nut Shop
Mahmoud Rayahen opened Rayahen in 2013, a nuts and candy shop. It all started with a tiny branch in 6th of October City, and now they successfully own five branches in Mazar Mall, Zamzam Mall, Rehab City, New Cairo and Sharm El Sheikh.
Bibtex — Furniture Factory
In 2012, Bibtex Home was just a factory, but then founder Ammar Birajikli started opening retailers in 2014. You can find them in Maadi, Citystars and Dokki. Bibtex guarantees the highest quality of fabrics in Egypt.

Aziz Kabbani made sure that Egyptians can buy good quality furniture at a very affordable price, making it easier for newly weds to furnish their houses.
ALEP — Marketing and Franchising Agency
Alep Studio aims to write a new chapter for Syrians who are rebuilding their businesses away from their homeland, after the conflicts that changed their country’s route.
Dar Ward — Restaurant
Dar Ward opened around 2012, blessing us with a Syrian experience here in Egypt. Expect mouthwatering food with a hospitable environment. Dar Ward is now located in October City, New Cairo and Maadi.
Kansas Fried Chicken — Fast Food Restaurant
Kansas Fried Chicken is a franchise owned by Syrians. They started in 2013 and now have three branches across Egypt: Sheraton, Rehab City, Korba.
Beyond Glee — Home Accessories
It’s a home accessories brand that produces customized beanbags, cushions, canvas and so much more. Beyond Glee are an online retailer that sells through social media platforms and Jumia.
Khayrat El Sham — Restaurant
Their shawerma is to die for! The portion is extremely generous, the slices of beef and chicken shawerma are just the right amount of crispy. Oh, and don’t let me start on their tommeya dip.
