For ages, I have been asking around what people actually do for fun on the weekends other than just hanging around at the same, almost similar, venues. Coincidentally, this weekend I had the chance to come across the most amazing discovery of all: Mario High Ropes Team! This place is literally a diamond in the rough…or Mukkatam. In order to reach this astounding area, which is inside the Monastery of Saint Simon, you have to go through an immense garbage recycling area, called 7ay El Zabaleen (also known as Garbage City). You wouldn’t believe that such a valuable ancient heritage like the monastery exists in such a place, along with a huge game area. It’s almost impossible to find something like this anywhere else in Cairo.
With 200 LE, you can do a lot of activities such as high ropes, low ropes, climbing and zip-lining for as long as you want. All you need is good company, and of course, muscles strong enough to make you last.
Indeed, safety comes first! But the team managing the area has been there ever since this place was created, so they pretty much know the backward and forward of the whole game. All you have to do is book a spot for you and your friends through their Facebook page, and I bet you won’t be able to take yourself back home.
But the fun doesn’t stop here. After you finish play time, you get to marvel at the greatness of the Monastery of Saint Simon, especially the Cave Church.
The sculpture is breathtaking, and I couldn’t stop myself from feeling really sorry and sad that many of us, don’t really get to know about places like this.
Luckily, I had the opportunity to see a part of my country that I never knew existed. It’s only about time that you plan a different one of a kind outing, for you and your family or friends.
