Why Your Job Should Never Be Means to an End

Okay, let’s get one thing straight! Opting for a job or a career in order to meet certain ends, is probably the most unbalanced decision someone can make. I haven’t been working for so long to talk about this matter from the perspective of professionals who have been working for years. But with my still limited years of experience, I came to the realization that your career path is one of the most crucial poles in your life.

Most people usually graduate and start hunting for jobs, in order to get hitched, pay bills or make ends meet. But eventually, a lot of those people face unrelenting pressure and stress to find out if that’s the career they really wanted in the first place or not.

After graduation, people usually have a lot of promises, plans that were laid down for the future. Everything made sense at some point in life until reality checks in. Plans can stand broken, and things can make no sense for a while. And this absolutely normal!

But the only thing that stands still is what you’ve done with your career, the long sleepless nights that you spent working so hard on something you love. Planning and working hard to pursue your dream job, should be prioritized and other things will eventually follow. Your career provides you with a better sense of self, and if you’re not happy at your job, chances of being happy elsewhere won’t be much either.

Your career is so important because it’s part of how you identify yourself. Take the time to determine what you really want to be, before focusing your energy on meeting ends that could only be temporary.
