Here’s Why You’re Probably Always Feeling Tired on The Weekends

The only absolute thing I have come to believe in, is that I’m always too tired to pull anything off on the weekends. Every single time I get excited and plan loads of fun stuff to do, I end up sitting on my butt, doing absolutely nothing, but binge-watching new series on Netflix. But honestly, its very liberating knowing that I’m not the only one feeling like an elderly tortoise by the end of every week. Most of the people I know are facing the exact same issue.

So, what’s the problem? Why do people always feel drugged on the weekends?

Commonly, it is believed that people feel extremely exhausted and slack off on weekends because they’re always overworked. However, this comes as partially true.

A new study conducted at the University of Arizona revealed that the reason behind your drained energy on weekends -I don’t know how to break it to you- is because of oversleeping.

When you oversleep on the weekends, something called “Social Jet Lag” happens to you. So, if you sleep more than you do on weekdays, you’ll most likely feel like you need to compensate for your lack of sleep, by sleeping even more. And this is when the vicious cycle begins, the more you sleep the more exhausted you become.

So, what this new study suggests, is that  in order for you to feel energetic on weekends, you have to wake up at exactly the same time you do on weekdays.

I don’t know about you, but I suddenly feel like I don’t mind being a couch potato on weekends.
