Josh Gates, host of the famous show Expedition Uknown, will be going on a live adventure this Sunday, April 7th at 8:00 PM EST. Egyptologists Zahi Hawass and Mostafa Waziri, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, will accompany Gates on a two-hour underground broadcast, hopefully opening an Ancient Egyptian Coffin and uncovering what’s beneath it.
“Worst case scenario, there’ll be nothing in there but a layer of dust” Gates joked in his interview with PopCulture. “Look, one of the big goals of Expedition Unknown is to take our viewers on a real adventure. It doesn’t get much more real than this. We’re going to be working hand in hand with some incredible Egyptologists and we’re going to be going down into these burial shafts and chambers, hopefully, opening a sarcophagus on live TV, and finding hopefully all sorts of interesting relics and remains that can tell us more about the people that are buried in these tombs.”
“This makes the audience a part of our team, because they are with us in real time,” he added. Gates also said that this expedition will explore the late period in Egyptian history.
