We all reach a certain point where we feel like we have too much to do, and we’re just unable to keep our cool. There’s an overwhelming amount of work and not enough time to do it. So you fall into a pit of stress which eventually becomes a harmful factor influencing the quality of your work. Here are a few things that can help you de-stress while not taking up too much of your time.
Go outside
If your workspace has a balcony, garden, or even a window, just get some fresh air for a few minutes. As cliché as this may sound, feeling the wind or just looking out and gazing can help you distract your mind and think of simpler things. This could help you keep your mind off of your tasks and give yourself a 5-minute break.
To-do list
Keep track of what you have completed and what you still need to get done. As much as this may seem stressful, the actual feeling of checking something off of your to-do list can give you a sense of accomplishment that will calm your nerves down a little bit more.
Vent
Sometimes all you need to do is find a good listener and just start venting. You can even start the conversation by saying, “I just need to vent for the next few minutes,” and gently let all your energy and frustration out. This will allow you to start focusing on what you need to do rather than getting distracted by overwhelming emotions.
Food
You can also eat your feelings away, we all know that. You should always have pieces of fruit, an energy bar, or chocolates with you just to give yourself a boost of energy to be able to keep going. Give your body enough strength to avoid a complete shut down.
Change of scenery
We all know we have to be in the office from nine to five, unless you’re one of the lucky few who work remotely or freelance. If you don’t, then head to the nearest coffeeshop after work, where you will be able to drink as much coffee as you like. Having the ability to let your energy out into your vice will calm your nerves down.
