At a young age people start to fantasize about their future, believing that they will become doctors, super heroes, or even professional video gamers. However, many of our childhood dreams come to an end when we decide to choose a different academic or career path, or even realize that our dreams are unrealistic.
Luckily for gamers, some of their dreams can be attainable, thanks to the minds of Egyptian Esports advocates, Gamers Lounge, who launched Esports Lab in 2019.
“We are aiming to use the lab to promote Esports in Egypt, by raising awareness, holding competitions, and providing our clients with high-end computers and services. We want to encourage them to have a high quality gaming experience,” says Co-founder of Gamers Lounge, Hashem Alborno.
Esports is a form of organized multiplayer video game competitions that take place in front of spectators. The competitions can take place in an offline or online form.
“One of the main advantages of the lab is the ping. As most of the Egyptian gamers play at a ping of 90-120 milliseconds, the lab can reach about 30 milliseconds,” Alborno stated.
The lab is located in Nasr City, and it is divided into two floors. The first floor contains a public area (Sector A) that integrates 58 computers that are equipped with 65 hertz Samsung monitors, which contain a variety of competitive games.
On the other hand, the second floor is fully equipped with 144 hertz monitors, to furnish the needs of the gamers’ who seek to play professionally. The floor contains four private rooms and the Republic of Gamers Rooms, which are available for rent.
“The private rooms are optimum for the teams who are practicing for tournaments training together, or targeting to play professionally. As the rooms are completely isolated and contains high specification computers,” Alborno added.
The ROG room serves as a solution for the professional teams who don’t have the means to train professionally, such as high quality computers and good internet connection. All of the 120 computers that are available at the lab are equipped with gaming keyboards, headsets, and good room for mouse movement.
Not only does Esports Lab provide its clients with the technological means to game, but they also provide them with advice to help them enhance their performance and status. The minds behind Gamers Lounge have been in the market for about five years, and they have good experience in the field.
“We provide services for the teams that want to take their game to the next level. For example, we can bring in coaches, and help them shape their identity. All of these services are at a minimal cost, as we want to make teams grow and promote the industry in Egypt,” Alborno said.
According to the article “Newzoo: Global Esports Economy Will Top $1 Billion for the First Time in 2019”, published by Newzoo, the Esports industry gained 1.1 billion dollars in 2019.
In addition, the report claims that revenues will increase in the upcoming years, which proves that the market is growing. This is one of the reasons why Esports lab aims to promote the industry in Egypt, to help expand the market in the country.
“The place is really suitable for the gamers’ society, as you get to meet professional gamers and teams, as well as people who play for fun. Also, the internet speed, computers, and environment are key factors that make the place stand out, as there is no place in Egypt that provides these professional standards,” says gaming enthusiast, Omar Hamdy.
