Flat6Labs Cairo DevelUp: Networking For a Developed Startup Eco-System

“This event is very important to our startups because we invite corporates across different industries, in order to encourage business to business deals between both sides,” said Flat6Labs Program Manager, Randa ElBiecy.

This has been Flat6Labs mission since they started: to work cohesively with startups to support them and enhance their potential. They also provide them with a business networking event at the end of each cycle, which was recently held on October 16.

During the DevelUp event, current startups and graduates of Flat6Labs got the chance to meet with corporations in an attempt to seek advice and potentially seal deals.

Flat6Labs are a regional startup accelerator that supports startups that are empowered by technology across different sectors, to invest in them and foster their needs.

This aspect encourages startups and corporations to come together to create a mutual client-based relationship between both parties. This is why the accelerator is very keen to keep inviting more corporations to help support the eco-system, ElBiecy added.

The belief that when startups and corporations connect together, they support the startup eco-system and find solutions to society’s problems.

VIA Flat6Labs

Microsoft is one of many companies that were present at the DevelUp event. “We aim to provide some of our services to Flat6Labs’ startups through our partnership with the accelerator. Not only does our partnership support Egyptian startups, but also startups in the region, as we believe that we have a role towards startups,” Microsoft Business Development Manager, Shahir Fahmy said.

Fahmy explained that they aim to help startups from a technical perspective, as well as a business perspective. Also, he believes that corporations should help startups aside from their corporate social responsibility, as it is a win-win situation for both sides and the society.

The event witnessed more than 25 startups that networked amongst each other, as well as with the corporations present, which enabled them to enhance their exposure and know how they can co-operate to support each other.

“In my opinion, Flat6Labs are one of the most experienced accelartors in the region, and this event is a great example of how great they are, as my startup graduated in January 2018, and yet I am here at the event, which proves that they help startups even after the acceleration phase,” Chefaa CEO, Doaa Aref stated.

This event is very beneficial for all startups as it helps them with exposure, Aref added.

She said, “One of the biggest challenges that startups face is the lack of information about the market, however I believe that we are moving in the right direction thanks to the help of all organizations supporting the eco-system.”
