As time goes by, most people tend to change their preferences with the ongoing changing dynamics of modern society. The rapid shift towards the digital world has shifted people’s interest to the marketing, social media, advertising and digital fields. However, there aren’t any academies in Egypt that help them fulfill their goals to a high standard, but luckily for them, Cannes Lions, one of the most prestigious academies worldwide and the accolade of professional education, is launching in the Cannes Lions Egypt Academy (CLEA) next January.
The academy aims to offer experiential, practical, results-oriented, award winning and theoretical programs that are inspired from the MENA region and global sphere. This is by adopting progressive cutting-edge courses and advanced learning techniques and methods, to ensure that the creative professionals acquire the required skills to enhance their careers as well as their organization’s performance.
Cannes Lions Egypt Modules
The first semester starts on January 26 until February 1, and it consists of two modules, Module A and B, and both of them consist of a course and a workshop.
“Egypt has always been the main creative talent hub for the region and the creative ecosystem isn’t well equipped to hone and invest in this talent to make it reach a far greater potential. CLEA will educate, inspire and bring global expertise to Egypt,” Cannes Lions Egypt management team, Mai Salama said.
Module A’s course entails details and information on how to identify, concept and blow out a big idea. Also, it provides knowledge to it’s attendees to know what they have in hand and understand why 99% of brands aren’t actually telling any stories at all.
Instructors’ Background
Salama added, “It’s easy to create content, but great content that grabs attention, builds brands, impacts business and wins awards is a whole different game and we are here to ignite and fuel the flames of those who are passionate to achieve creative greatness.”
Both modules are taught by Sam Saunders, who is a thought-leader and a well-liked creative, who seeks every opportunity and capitalizes on it, by pushing the limits of ordinary materials. He is accompanied by Weera Saad, who plays a significant role in inspiring and driving innovative ideas to help unlock the platform’s creative power for agencies, clients and media partners.
In addition to Ahmed Younis who co-founded FC studio, joined Cairo Elephant and became the Executive Creative Director in FP7 Cairo/McANN and head of McANN Creative Leadership Council for Middle East and Africa.
“CLEA wants to create impact and effectiveness in the creative industry. Learning through courses is just one of the platforms but we will have multiple platforms such as a mentoring network, creative competitions and roundtable discussions for influencial industry leaders,” Cannes Lions Egypt management team, Amr El Tobgy said.
Saunders was included in 14 talks at Cannes Lions festival and he aims to develop business strategies and processes within a creative scope, to ensure sustainable success and quality work. Also, Saad was awarded at Lynx, Eiffes, Cannes Festivals, and currently she is the regional Director at Facebook’s Creative Shop-for Middle East, Africa and Turkey. In addition, Younis won the Grand Prix in the LIA, a Gold Lion in Cyber, Cannes Lions, D&AD, Andy’s, as well as other prestigious awards.
El Tobgy added, “we will tackle the industry from several angles with the aim of raising the creative bar to deliver stronger impact and higher effectiveness.”
The instructors will also provide a workshop for this module in mastering communication on social media, to spread knowledge on how to capitalize on social media and avoid falling in tricky traps.
On the other hand, Module B covers other aspects, as the module’s course aims to take it’s attendees on a journey to explore the holy grail of going viral without paid media, as well as a workshop about the tools and techniques behind growing e-commerce.
The academy also features a wide variety of professionals in their field, aiming to level up the marketing and advertising game in Egypt.
