Digital skills are the most in-demand in the world right now. Even if your career had nothing to do with them, you might find you need them still to level up. Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology launched the Egypt FWD (Egypt’s Future Work Is Digital) initiative to empower and enable Egyptian students and professionals looking to work or freelance in a world led by digital transformation. Powered by Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), the initiative aims at getting 100,000 young Egyptians through ITIDA and Udacity prepared to venture into a global market that’s estimated at a size of $3 trillion for free!
Whether you’re looking for a career path or additional income, this opportunity is golden. But in order for you to believe so, you must find out what courses they offer, whether they’re legit and could actually help you get a job, and if you’d have the time to successfully complete them. We’re here to answer these questions so we could help you decide quickly and apply for the next batch before its deadline on February 14.
Application doesn’t require any prior professional experience and there are three tracks that suit different levels of expertise — from complete beginners to skilled professionals.
It may be hard to keep up with emerging technologies and make money nowadays, but educating yourself has become a lot easier…
What are the available tracks, and are these courses legit?
The available tracks are:
- Web Development
- Data Science
- Digital Marketing
Each track has three different levels: a challenge track, a professional track, and an advanced track. You could begin with zero experience at the challenge track.
The courses are presented, managed, and certified by Udacity, an American for-profit organization launched back in 2012. Although Udacity isn’t a university, its courses are valued by tech corporations seeking employees.
Among the top companies that hired Udacity’s graduates are Amazon, Google, and IBM. They’ve also partnered with Google to offer a couple of digital courses.
The curricula is presented by relevant experts who you get to interact with alongside your peers on Udacity’s platform; an efficient community of learners is what it is. You also get both academic theory and practical, hands-on experience. You even get to deliver and receive feedback on projects you craft.
What jobs or careers are they related to? Are they for me?
The answer to this question in a rapidly digitally transforming world is to seek the positions you aim for in your career, identify the skills they need, and see if they’re a good match to the three tracks offered in the free scholarship.
Whether you want to kickstart a data science, digital marketing, or web development career/freelancing journey, or you’re a medical doctor who has set eyes on a research job that requires knowledge of Python and data science, your career could gain a lot from these tracks.
How much is the free scholarship saving me?
You could head to Udacity’s official website and check how much the courses offered for free to Egyptians via the Egypt FWD initiative would cost you originally.
Would I have the time to get certified if I’m holding a job or studying at a university?
Generally speaking, yes. Because the courses can be self-paced. Apart from a brief session held once a week, you could choose when to view the material and submit your exercises within the set deadlines. The challenge track takes 8 weeks, the professional track takes 2 months, and the advanced track takes 3 months.
