Having a lucrative career in Media Production, Sport Media or Fashion might be your dream, and the demand for jobs in those fields is evidently clear, but the market is also quite competitive. Altogether, it’s difficult to find globally acclaimed educational institutions dedicated to boosting our chances of building promising career paths in those fields in Egypt, so it can be frustrating. Challenging this reality, however, is Ryerson Cairo Campus; the first MENA satellite campus of the 73-year-old Canadian University, Ryerson. Their globally acclaimed Faculty of Communication and Design (FCAD) is holding the ‘Innovation Bootcamp‘ from June 14 to June 16. We don’t think you should miss it, so here’s what you need to know and where to register…
But first, a brief introduction to Ryerson if you’re still unfamiliar…
In February 2021, Ryerson University held a ceremony to officially launch its satellite campus in Cairo’s New Administrative Capital. You can find out more about the Ryerson Cairo Campus’s launch event and the diverse assembly of experts, professionals, and industry leaders—from both Canada and Egypt—who attended here.
If you’re intrigued by Ryerson’s distinctive majors, exchange programs, perks, facilities, and resources they offer their students—you’ll be glad to know they’ve just begun to open up the campus to prospective students, or those who are just looking to learn something new!
Ryerson Cairo Campus’s Faculty of Communication and Design (FCAD) is inviting leading experts in the Fashion and Media industries in Canada.
With approximately 46,000 students and 200,000 alumni—including the Aladdin star Mena Massoud and Four Seasons Founder, Isadore Sharp—Ryerson prides itself on its reputation for creating innovative, ambitious, and highly employable graduates. In particular, their pioneering Faculty of Communication and Design (FCAD) is considered a global center of media and creative invention with alumni who go on to solve global issues and present visionary ideas.
Back to the ‘Innovation Bootcamp’
Ryerson Cairo Campus’ Faculty of Communication and Design (FCAD) is inviting leading experts on fashion and media from their main campus in Toronto, Canada to deliver an intensive three-day bootcamp in Egypt for hands-on training on the following:
a) Fashion entrepreneurship
b) Fashion innovation
c) Media innovation
d) Digital media solutions
Students have the option to attend online, or in-person (transportation will be provided). This bootcamp is intended to prepare young Egyptians for their applications to Ryerson’s Faculty of Communication and Design and offer them a glimpse of daily life as a student at the prestigious university.
Ryerson’s FCAD has caught the attention and endorsement of several influential Egyptians in media, who were impressed by their launch event in February. Mohanad Kojak from Kojak Studios spoke on the importance of establishing a respected and legitimate educational institution for fashion within Egypt that will support the growing industry:
“It’s definitely taken the field from being amateur-ish to becoming an actual industry and business. That’s what we lack here.”

Kojak, therefore, recognizes the intellectual value of an accredited Canadian degree, which is respected worldwide. FCAD’s expansion into Egypt means that students will no longer have to travel abroad to gain a reputable degree in a creative field – whilst having access to top-of-the-line resources that will foster their creative ambitions. For instance, FCAD is home to numerous creative research centers and labs, dedicated to admirable causes such as the Center for Fashion Diversity and Social Change, Center for Free Expression, and Center for Communicating Knowledge.
In this vein, Egyptian actor Sherif Ramzy was quick to venerate the benefits of Canadian degrees and fostering the flourishing relationship between Canada, Egypt, and the wider Middle East.
“It’s a field of study that’s critical and overlooked in Egypt. I trust Canadian education, and I think this new partnership will benefit the future generations of Egypt.”

If getting a world-class education and placing yourself at the forefront of this emerging inter-regional relationship sounds good to you, attending this bootcamp will put any student in good stead to apply! In fact, the cost of the ticket (400 Canadian dollars) will be detracted from your enrollment fee upon acceptance into the university.
The bootcamp, spanning 3 action-packed afternoons, is structured by splitting participants into groups. Each group, led by an expert mentor, will refine their original ideas within informative sessions to create a streamlined pitch to be presented on the final day.
Here’s who you can look forward to learning from at this exciting bootcamp…
