Shabjdeed and Marwan Pablo took the stage in Pablo’s comeback concert last Friday, October 1st, 2021.
The concert was met with public outrage over safety hazards, lack of security, and sexual assault cases. Unfortunately, many people blamed the artists for the disarray that happened during the concert; including the parts in which they are not involved.
More notably so, Amr Helmy, Marketing Manager at Redbull Egypt who organized events of the same scale came out in a video; stating that it was not the artist’s at fault whatsoever that Pablo’s banning from the syndicate was very unjustified. He placed full responsibility on the organizers.
In the video, Helmy states that the recent trouble in Egyptian concerts can be broken down into three categories, the artists, the organizers, and the audience. He noted that the fingers should be pointed towards the organizers.
In the past, concert organizers used to be marketing agencies that are well established and known. Recently, it hasn’t been necessarily the same way. Helmy even made it a point to state that most of the new organizers don’t have enough experience in the field.
Concert organizing is a huge responsibility. Not only are the organizers responsible for over 1000 people, but they’re also considerate of every probability: the stage could collapse, a fire could break out, literally anything could happen.
That level of damage control wasn’t present in the aforementioned concert.
Helmy highlighted that it is not Pablo or any artist’s responsibility to consider organizational feats for his own concert and that there should be a ceiling to who is allowed to do this job.
Most importantly, the audience is hugely at fault too, everyone should keep to a certain level of decency. Helmy stated that the level of indecent behavior present in the latest concerts is beyond shameful and that the organizers should keep an eye out on that too, especially that these events may be traumatizing to many.
