Dr. Mohamed Lachemi Commences Ryerson and Universities of Canada’s Partnership!

Dr. Mohamed Lachemi, President and Vice-Chancellor of Ryerson University, visited Universities of Canada’s Cairo Campus on Sunday, October 24th, to officially commence the partnership between Ryerson University and Universities of Canada in Egypt.

During his visit, Dr. Lachemi was welcomed by the staff and faculty members, who guided him, H.E. Louis Dumas, Ambassador of Canada to Egypt at UofCanada campus, and Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Egypt, in a tour around the campus at the New Administrative Capital.

“This is a 21st-century university,” Said Dr. Mohamed Lachemi.

Dr. Lachemi, who flew in all the way from Toronto for the special occasion, was keen on highlighting the added academic value that will result from such partnership, especially in the creative and engineering fields in the MENA region. He took turns with Dr. Magdy El Kady, UofCanada president, to reflect on the type of practical asset, to discuss the momentum of such satellite campus for Egypt and the MENA region considering that Ryerson University Cairo Campus’s representation will go beyond Egypt to the Middle East.

As you read this, the Cairo campus is almost ready to welcome students…

Since the campus will be ready in full capacity to welcome students next fall, part of the tour included a visit to Ryerson Cairo’s new state-of-the-art building, sitting at 10,000 square feet fitted out with the latest technologies, labs, and studios to keep up with the creative fields in the MENA region.

“I am privileged to be supporting UofCanada in Egypt,” Said H.E. Louis Dumas.

By the end of the visit, Mr. Dumas concluded the Q&A session with the UofCanada student body to answer any questions they might have related to the workforce and the post-graduate opportunities in Canada, Canadian work culture & beyond.

Ryerson Cairo is launching its expansion into the MENA region with two faculties, The Creative School (Faculty of Communication & Design) offering Sports Media, Fashion, and Media Production programs. As well as the Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science (FEAS) offers civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering programs. Both faculties give local and international students the opportunity to earn a Ryerson degree in an environment that perfectly emulates the Canadian university experience right in the heart of Egypt.
