A couple of days ago, Egypt participated in the global initiative to turn off the lights titled “The Earth Hour”. The event was on March 26. It focuses on turning off lights and unnecessary electrical appliances for an hour.
This initiative comes in order to draw attention to the danger of excessive energy consumption and the consequent harm to Earth.
The Minister of Environment elaborated more on this global initiative organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature. This year’s edition came under the slogan “Shaping Our Planet,”. This highlighted the ministry’s happiness in launching the celebration this year from Sharm el-Sheikh. This comes along with hosting the climate conference at the end of this year.
It is worth noting that “Earth Hour” originated in Sydney, Australia in 2007, to quickly grew and become the world’s largest movement in the field of the environment. Also, this introduced a source of inspiration in more than 188 countries.
