This decrease was due to a continued slowdown in the rise of food prices. According to data released by Capmas, the state statistics agency, annual inflation in urban areas dropped to 29.8% in January from 33.7% in December.
However, monthly inflation slightly increased to 1.6% in January, compared to 1.4% in the previous month.
