Egypt Central Bank To Suspend Credit Cards That Do Not Provide Proof of Usage Abroad

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has issued new rules for customers who do not provide proof of use for their credit cards abroad within 90 days from the date they used them.

The rules include suspending the cards and listing the customers on a platform by the Egyptian Credit Bureau i-Score and CBE’s credit registration system.
Customers who are listed on the i-Score daily report will be banned from using their credit cards abroad and will not be able to get new credit cards or use them abroad.

Text messages will be sent to customers who fail to submit the necessary documents within the 90-day period, before the suspension of their credit cards. And these new rules are part of the controls for using credit cards for traveling abroad, issued on 29 October 2023.
