The need to unite and support one another is perhaps now more pressing than ever. Subsequently, numerous businesses and individuals have been taking great steps to diminish the harm inflicted on us by the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic. One of these most recent initiatives comes from the Egyptian bus ride-hailing app, Swvl, which swiftly responded by urging people to stay at home, offering only ‘must-have’ trips with lower seating capacities for free and supporting their captains during these tough times financially.
From now on, and in an incredibly socially responsible move, Swvl will only operate must-have routes for free! And the capacity of their buses will be running at substantially lower seating capacities in a time when social distancing is our only hope in limiting the spread of Covid-19.
Buses with the capacity of 33 seats will only have 17 seats available; buses with the capacity for 28 seats will only have 14 seats available; and buses with the capacity for 14 seats will only have 8 seats available.
Swvl also announced that they’re financially supporting their captains, who are amongst the most affected by the crisis, to get home necessities and groceries.
