1. Can you tell us about your journey as an artist and how you discovered your passion for music?
My journey began in Morocco, where music is deeply embedded in the culture. At a very young age, I realized it was a way for me to express my emotions. Over the years, I learned to blend traditional Moroccan sounds with modern influences to create my unique style.
2. What inspired the creation of “Mahboul Ana”? Did you anticipate such success?
The idea for Mahboul Ana came to me spontaneously while I was driving on the highway to Casablanca. I was humming melodies in my head and immediately contacted Mohamed Amir to work on the lyrics. He loved the chorus. After that, we recorded the song in the studio and shot the music video. Everything happened naturally. While I believed in the song’s potential, I didn’t expect it to achieve such incredible success.
3. What role did TikTok play in launching “Mahboul Ana”?
TikTok was a game-changer. Thanks to its virality, the song reached a wide audience and became a true phenomenon. TikTok broke barriers, helping the song connect with listeners internationally.
4. How do you maintain a strong connection with your audience on TikTok?
Authenticity is key. I share moments from my daily life, behind-the-scenes looks at my projects, and take the time to interact with fans by responding to their comments. This creates a close and engaging relationship.
5. What are your next goals as an artist, and how do you plan to use TikTok to achieve them?
My main goal is to expand my collaborations with international artists while continuing to proudly represent Moroccan culture. TikTok will remain a key tool to test new ideas, engage with fans, and promote my upcoming creations.
6. How does your Moroccan identity influence your sound and resonate with both local and international audiences?
My Moroccan identity is at the heart of my music. I incorporate elements of raï, an iconic genre of the Maghreb, blending its distinctive rhythms and melodies with modern sounds. This allows me to create a unique style that connects with both Moroccan listeners and international audiences.
7. What has been the most surprising or memorable moment of your career so far?
Without a doubt, seeing Mahboul Ana reach the #1 spot on Billboard Arabia’s Top 100 chart. It was a historic milestone and an unforgettable moment that validated all the efforts behind the project.
