Downtown Cairo Gets Its First Open-Air Cinema

Can we hear a “YAAAS KWEEN” because your after-work plans are about to change, for the better. Why, you ask? Well, Urban Cinema has answered our collective prayers and introduced the first of its kind open-air movie house in Egypt — at Downtown Cairo’s Unicorn Garden to be specific. Now, you can kiss your well-worn plans goodbye and go have an exceptional movie night (with your favorite co-workers), without having to give up on your breath of fresh air.

The new concept will be screening whatever satisfies your tastes; from independent films, to blockbusters, TV shows and much more. Oh, and if you’re thinking about munchies, worry not because popcorn, hot dogs and refreshments will also be waiting for you.

Urban Cinema was founded by MO4 Network in efforts to bring Egyptians a new taste of entertainment. “It’s an experiential concept, the likes of which are usually found outside of Egypt, providing first-class entertainment and service in a fun atmosphere, that aims to make going out to the cinema more about the ambiance, not just the movie,”  Timmy Mowafi, Co-Founder of MO4 Network, told us.

“We’ll be screening a variety of films once per month, including special themed nights such as our last Halloween event, without forgetting new releases, indie films and collaborations with local festivals and filmmakers,” he added.

Nour Hossam

Nour is one of the most gregarious people you could ever come across. She literally loves everyone! She spends half of her life stuffing her face with food, and the other half trying to lose weight at the gym. Her shining example is Mulan because she would not hesitate to do anything for the people she loves. When she's not busy writing for 925 as a Staff Writer, you'll find her kitesurfing in Ras Sudr.
