Whilst many people are spirited with the advent season of winter, others are nervous from having to put up with the feeling that comes with it. A lot of people struggle with winter blues/seasonal affective disorder – a long episode of winter depression that leaves the person affected with it, drained of all their energy. For some, this is when nature starts to inflict havoc on their mood and eventually on their work.
Therefore, I have compiled a list of tweaks that one can use to ease the feeling of winter blues and their repercussions on work.
A Quick Morning Workout
Even though it may seem like something hard to do in winter, but a morning workout is the best way to warm up your mood and your body as well. Kicking off the day with an intense workout will stimulate your productivity levels and will push those winter blues to the curb.
Sneak Out Once A Day
Staying at the office for long hours can be nerve-wracking for people who suffer from winter blues. Move your legs and get out of the office because fresh air can shift your low mood into a more relaxed one.
Find Where the Light is
Winter blues get more intense when it gets dark and gloomy. If your room is not solar-oriented, inform your boss and colleagues that you want to settle in a brighter one. If all methods fail and mother nature decides the sun is on a break; bring lights and lamps to your desk.
See a Specialist
Sometimes the universe doesn’t respond to your positive initiations, and things don’t work out as you want them to. That’s completely fine! In such cases, pay a specialist a visit and they’ll tell you how to professionally work things through.
