With 2018 saying its goodbyes, I decided to round up the things that I learned throughout the past year. It’s startling how a year can have so much to give a person. You think you have everything figured out for yourself, but then it hits you. Motion, it is! Everything is in motion, even you. The person you thought you were a year ago and the things you thought you knew are no longer the same. For me, when I look back at the past year and think of all the things that I chanced upon, all that comes to my mind is: “This is was one hell of a ride.”
Here’s what 2018 gifted me for 2019:
Don’t Let Others Determine How Your Story Ends
You are in charge of your own life. Victimizing yourself or blaming others for whatever misfortunes you have, will only make you a compliant in your own life. Tailor your life the way you want it to be, and when hitches come along and the plan shifts away, don’t blame others for it.
Surround Yourself with Champions
Champions aren’t only the top-notch or the ones who hit it big. Champions are the ones strong enough to face life with brave temperament. The ones that strive to be the best versions of themselves. Stick to those who lift you up, and those who make you feel like life has so much more to it, than just existing.
Practice Gratitude
Maybe this sounds like a stale saying, but when you keep on counting your blessings, even the smallest of them, you win at life. Being grateful for the things you already have, alter your perception about life and about what you really want from it.
Believing is Achieving
Since I’m a huge fan of the law of attraction theory, I come to tell you that the most powerful yet destructive weapon you own, is your mind. The rightful way to use your mind, is to train it to believe. If you believe in something so hard and in your capability to claim it, you will achieve greatness. However, failure is not inevitable, but also not fatal. Moving on after a downfall is what counts.
Healthy is a State of Mind Not a Workout
Eating healthy and staying fit are undeniably good for you. But spending every minute in your life the way it should be spent, is on another level of healthy. Eating junk at 12:00 am with your friends watching silly movies, is healthy. Going for a walk with a gigantic bowl of ice-cream mixed with cinnamon-dough in your hands, is healthy. Healthy should be something that makes you feel good, no matter what it is.
Don’t Fear “FEAR”
To be fearless is not the condition where fear stops existing in you; it’s the state of being no longer “afraid” of fear. It’s human to feel fear! Let’s try not to think of fear as an enemy and think of it more as a tool or a contributor. If you read FEAR as face everything and rise, then it has nothing on you, it’s just a four letter word.
Listen to The Whispers You Get
Trust your gut feeling. If you feel something is wrong, then something is wrong.
The World is an Amazing Horrible Place
Let’s face it, the world isn’t a typical Nicholas Sparks’ story. It has so many good things in it and pretty messed up stuff too, but it’s your choice to choose which part to focus on.
Be the “YES Man”
Kill your comfort zone, before it kills you. Whenever you find something new, jump in it. No guarantees, it’s either a lesson or a blessing.
Believe that You are God’s Miracle on Earth
You are what you have been looking for. You have everything within you, and that makes you one of a kind. Don’t think of yourself as any less, because society tells you so.
If it Sucks then it Sucks
Let all hell break loose when things suck. Feel grief, feel bad, feel whatever you want to feel, it’s your divine right. Just don’t take too long to snap out of it.
It Will Pass
If you perceive this as a horrible year, then guess what, you’re reading this, it passed! It all passes! What you thought you’d never get through, you still did. Bad news is that a year can change a lot, BUT good news is, a year can also change a lot. So congratulations, you’ve passed!
