Many people fall into the perplexing trap of not knowing when enough is actually enough. The most common reason that people quit their jobs is actually because they’re not making enough money. This generally applies to people who are weighed down by a ton of family and financial responsibilities. Money, in this case, is somehow a very critical and decisive factor in whether someone decides to stay or quit their job.
But what if you’re someone who’s still exploring their career path? What if you’re making a fair amount of money for your current status but the environment you’re working in is not really what you aspired to have?
Quitting is never going to be an easy choice. It is usually very thought intensive to figure out or come to the realization of whether this move is going to change your life for the better or actually make it a living hell.
But after giving this confusing matter a lot of deep thought, I came to the conclusion that the only right time for someone to quit their job, is when it becomes their comfort zone. At the very beginning of your career, many things may not be in your favor. Your salary may not be exactly sufficient or satisfactory, your team might not be very coherent or synchronized, or your boss might be insane. But like I always say, there is no one that had it all perfect, all at once.
But what really decides if you should quit or not? Well, what comes on top of anything is whether your job is actually challenging enough for you or not. Paying close attention to your learning curve and assessing the skills you’re gaining on the job, is of great importance. This helps you decide if you should keep going or simply cut the cord.
If you’re not getting the best and most of your job, no mistakes, no challenges, just the same old same job, it’s probably the right time for you, to smile and wave goodbye.
