From my little brother to my co-workers, everyone’s looking for it. Part-time jobs are a great way to sustain yourself if you are a student or an employee. These types of jobs usually have flexible hours and a not-so-bad pay check. So here are a few tips on how to find the most suitable job for you.
Focus on what you want to do
It’s already hard that you’re a full-time student/employee so if you’re going to spend every night doing a job it best be something you enjoy. Of course, when you’re really tight on money and looking for something urgent, you probably won’t care about whether you will enjoy that or not. But you have to keep in mind that life is stressful and eventually you’ll enter a loop. Try to make sure that your routine is not suffocating.
Search online
Many part-time employers are posting job offers online. Every social media platform now has a part for job seekers. Don’t worry if you can’t find much at the beginning. Try different keywords and keep searching. Eventually, the right job will pop up.
Use your connections
Contact family members and friends of friends. Everyone knows someone who can offer a part time job. If you look through your contacts on your phone, you’ll probably find someone worthy of a call. Friends, especially in Egypt, are more than willing to help. They may get a little nosy but they can always lend their hand.
Know your limits
Don’t take a job offer that lets you work eight hours every night because it’s got a good pay check. Know that you have a life and other aspects you need to take care of. Whether it’s your day-time job or your studies. Don’t give your soul to the workplace. Compromise a portion of your time for the part-time job but remember you have to eat, sleep and socialize.
Keep in mind a variety of options
Part-time evening jobs are around every corner. You can work as an Uber/Careem driver if you own a car. You can take a customer service job. You can take a babysitter or dog-walker job (yes these kinds of the jobs exist here). There’s also waiting tables, teaching assistant, cashier, receptionist and even retail jobs. Know all your options so you can think thoroughly about what you want to do. Take your time for the hunt but use your time wisely. Remember that this is only a part-time thing so don’t let the money keep you from pulling back whenever you feel overwhelmed.
