Being a freelancer allows you to make your own schedule, be your own boss, and sometimes provides the option to choose what to work on. Yet, this isn’t as easy as it sounds. A freelancer faces a lot of difficulties to find jobs or guarantee exposure, and this market gap is exactly where the Freelance Job Fair’s role comes.
The Freelance Job Fair will be held on September 14 at The Greek Campus, becoming the first part-time, freelance and internship jobs fair in Egypt. The fair is organized by Freelance Yard, founded by Mohamed Akmal, Yehia Abdelfattah, Sherouk Alaa El Din and Momen Magdy.
“We want the job fair to help develop freelancers, and enhance their connections with other freelancers and companies. The people who try to start a career as freelancers in any field usually need training and guidance. This is why we are providing matchmaking opportunities, workshops, mentorship zones and organizing talks for people to know the latest trends of their industry and how to brand for themselves,” Akmal said.
This job fair aims to provide these solutions and opportunities through exhibitors, matchmaking, and platforms that are dedicated to help freelancers showcase and sell their work. Also, participating freelancers have two payment options, they can buy the Freelancer Ticket that doesn’t include any workshops for LE100 through this link, or they can purchase the Freelancer Plus Ticket, which includes three workshops for LE 150 through this link.
The job fair’s program starts at 10a.m. and it ends at 8p.m., and in order to ensure that every freelancer can benefit from the job fair, the founders decided to have 15 stage talks, 30 workshops, and 15 mentors matchmaking tracks. These aspects serve as an attempt to guide and help people to become professional and successful freelancers, by being exposed to the trendiest freelancing industries.
“The workshops will be working in parallel throughout the day, and they are very diversified. Freelance Plus Ticket holders can participate in workshops like copy-writing toolkit for freelancers, motion graphics art, and full-stack web development workshops. Also, participants get to experience the mentorship zones to benefit from the one to one coaching, and they can even take a break at our fun zone,” the founders said.
Akmal added that the employment fair isn’t just made for freelancers to come and distribute their CV’s, the founders want to provide extensive benefits and experience to the participating freelancers through networking and development. Furthermore, after the event, the participants will be provided with a database that showcases the platforms they can work on.
The job fair is sponsored by Vodafone, EG Bank, Wuzzuf, Cinnabon and others, with the common aim of making freelancers’ lives easier and help to fight unemployment.
