How She Can 2021 Is Set Out To Enable and Celebrate Resilient Female Entrepreneurs in Egypt

During the Covid-19 pandemic, female-led businesses struggled to stay afloat. But Entreprenelle’s SHE CAN 2021 is back to enable and empower female entrepreneurs in Egypt to become more resilient in these challenging times. The virtual event will be hosted by Entreprenelle on Friday, March 5; and Saturday, March 6; under the theme of ‘Resilience‘. The two-day event will host a diverse assembly of accomplished female leaders to engage with audiences on their inspiring stories, insightful journeys, and their distinctive expertise.  We bring you some of the speakers you will meet and the coaching sessions you could join at the event.

1. Farida Temraz, of Temraza Couture

CEO and designer-in-chief of ‘Temraza Haute Couture’, Known for her distinguished voice in the fashion world ever since setting foot in it, Farida Temraz’s work received critical praise from some of the world’s most renowned exhibitions, and these include New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week! She was also been awarded the top prize in Paris Fashion Week in 2015.

2. Nour Emam, of Mother Being

Whether you’ve come across her account and seen her candid videos about the female body, or maybe even shared them with your friends, Nour Emam — founder of This is Mother Being — is filling an essential gap in Egypt’s digital sphere. Birthed out of a painful postpartum-depression experience and later blooming into an educational platform for both men and women, she managed to capture the attention of millions of viewers from diverse backgrounds.

Emam is a certified maternal support practitioner (MSP, doula), and a relationship and sex educator. Through engaging content and workshops on the female body and sexual health, she strives to familiarize women with their bodies in a culture that traditionally frowns upon it. Having only launched ‘This is Mother Being’ in January 2020, Emam tackled mental, physical, and social stigmas regarding women’s perception of their bodies and how societies dictate that perception.

3. Sarah Seif, of the State Ministry For Information

Living proof that age is just a number, Sarah Seif is one of the youngest people appointed at the State Ministry For Information. The 24-year old AUC graduate had tirelessly excelled in her media-communications career prior to being the Associate to the State Minister for Information.

Seif previously worked as a mass communications and theatre teaching assistant at AUC, a communications specialist at Robusta Studio, and a crisis communications manager at the Ministry of State for Information.

In her ‘Story behind a 24-year-old Decision Maker’ talk, Seif will narrate her passion-driven career and how she earned this prestigious position at this young age. One more reason to attend SHE CAN 2021.

4. Selina Bieber, of GoDaddy

UAE-based senior regional director for MENA at GoDaddy, Selina Bieber, leads the team that handles regional business operations at the leading American internet domain registrar and web hosting company.

⁣⁣Prior to joining GoDaddy, Bieber held an impressive 7-year record of overseeing marketing communications at notable corporations that include Facebook and Euler Hermes. She is now dedicated to helping entrepreneurs reach their audiences amid the ongoing digital transformation.

5. Nourhan Kandil, of Doctor Baby

Incredible multitasker, Dr. Nourhan Kandil, is a nutrition blogger, radio host, doctor, and university assistant-professor. After an 8-year career in multinational businesses, Kandil shifted gears and found a new passion in studying nutrition for her daughter’s wellbeing.

Dr. Kandil is the founder of ‘Doctor Baby’; a health & nutrition platform that produces food ingredients for a healthier lifestyle. She holds a master’s degree in international business administration from Paris Business School, is a teacher assistant at MIU, and works in Wadi El Neel hospital.

While wearing many business hats is impressive, the influencer-businesswoman equation is tricky to balance. And that’s exactly what Kandil will be exploring in her talk, which you can attend at SHE CAN 2021.

6. Heba Rashed, of Mersal Foundation

Founder and CEO of the 6-year-old healthcare NGO, ‘Mersal‘, Heba Rashed started off with only two employees to help those in critical need of medical care and assistance in Egypt. Now, Rashed leads 180 employees, five medical clinics, a medical hostel, and a free-of-charge cancer treatment center.

Safeguarding many underprivileged patients during the coronavirus pandemic by securing hospital beds, Rashed was listed among the BBC’s 2020 list of ‘100 Women of 2020’ among their ‘Heroes of Coronavirus’ in the Middle East.

As a pioneer in social development, Rashed will walk us through the creation of Mersal and its sustainable efforts to provide healthcare solutions for Egyptians at SHE CAN 2021.

7. Heba Zaki, of Cairo University’s FEPS Business Incubator

Dr. Heba Zaki is a faculty staff member at Cairo University’s Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences (FEPS) striving to bring young visionaries a step closer to realizing their entrepreneurial dreams. Dr. Zaki is also an assistant professor of socio-computing at FEPS.

Dr. Zaki is the founder and executive director of FEPS Business Incubator (FEPSBI) –  the first business incubator in governmental universities, which is accredited by the American University of Missouri and also a sponsor of this event. She additionally served as an advisory board member of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Agency in the Ministry of Trade.

Dr. Zaki shall indulge us in a talk on her 4-year-old business incubator and its expected role in shaping the MENA region’s future startups.

Balancing a work-life and a personal/business blog isn’t a walk in the park. This panel will feature a discussion on honing it that includes the aforementioned Norhan Kandil; CEO & founder of White & White Production House, Lojaine Salah; and founder of the card game ‘2oolameme’, Sara Abouelkhair.

  • Food and Culinary Professionalism

Recounting their culinary careers and expertise, this panel will host Ghada Nawara, CEO & founder of Ghada Nawara Catering; and TV chefs, Mai Yacoubi and Ghada Eltaly.

  • Media and Career Direction

The panelists for this discussion will be screenwriter, Naglaa Elhedeeny; and TV presenter, Shaimaa Hamdy. They’ll be tackling the portrayal of working women in the media and film-making industry.
