Everything You Need To Know About TEDxFalakiStreet

TEDxFalakiStreet is coming to the historical Ewart Memorial Hall, at the American University in Cairo‘s Tahrir Campus, on December 12.

The theme of this conference is colors, as this time the ideas that are worth spreading aim to tackle social acceptance and different views. This is because if all of us share the same opinions and we look the same, then what is the point?

Colors preserve a unique spirit and showcase different identities and cultures, and when they are mixed together they produce different colors, which proves that different additions can produce a new outcome; unlike mixing the same colors, it will produce the same outcome.

“The experience itself is worth attending the conference, networking is one of the key benefits from this event, in addition to the speaker’s ideologies and ideas, as this year is very tricky as we are tackling diversity, acceptance, culture and arts. This is a day that is filled with a special spirit of ideas worth spreading,” TEDxFalakiStreet Founder and Chairman, Mahmoud Aref told us.

TEDx events are organized by individuals who are driven by curiosity and aim to spread knowledge and discover new ideas to share with their own community.

This edition features a wide variety of prominent public figures, as well as inspiring people who aim to share their experience and views with the attendees. Speakers include Director Hany Khalifa, Egyptian author Medhat El Adl, Founder of Very Nile and Bassita Salem Massalha and many others.

“After an intensive research, we were able to find the best speakers for the event’s theme. Such as Medhat El Adl who will be talking about the arts and how media has an impact on changing the community. All of the speakers are from diverse fields, and they are definitely among the most influential people in their fields,” Aref added.

The theme does not tackle the colors that we see with our eyes, but the differences, diversity, culture and arts, and the importance of acceptance and difference from time to time. Even our 10 fingers are different, and among the entire population, your fingerprints are unique.

This might be your chance to share and get exposed to the cultural and civilizational repercussions of people of different colors, and get inspired by people with ideas who were subjected to bullying and were able to gain an upper hand by gaining the respect and social mobility they deserve.
