Uber and Careem to Pay 22.5% in Corporate Tax

Since Uber first started operating in Egypt, they have been involved in on-going negotiations with the government over taxation. According to Enterprise, the negotiations has just resulted in a tax agreement that would see them, along with Careem, pay 22.5% in corporate taxes.

Moreover, Uber and Careem’s drivers will pay up to 3% on their take from fares.The companies will collect the tax on behalf of the government by adding 3% on top of the existing 20% commission that they charge their drivers.
