TRESemmé Launches Design Competition during El-Gouna Film Festival

TRESemmé announced the winners of the fashion design competition it held during the third edition of El-Gouna Film Festival. The five winning dresses are currently displayed on El-Gouna’s fashion avenue.

Winning designs have been executed by Egyptian Fashion Designer Norine Farah. After Farah has brought the dresses to life, the lucky winners can now witness celebrities from around the globe, not only checking out their dresses, but purchasing them too.

“Everyone deserves to have a chance to express their art in one way or another and TRESemmé Egypt has been playing a huge role in encouraging designers to step up and show their creativity. As a designer, I believe supporting upcoming local designers is a measure of success to any artist,” said Farah.

One of the world’s most prestigious fashion publications, Vogue Arabia, has been covering the competition since it started, and will be featuring the winners and their designs.

The competition’s technique was quite simple. First, participants sent their sketched designs to TRESemmé’s Instagram account. Then, all submissions were narrowed down to five by two judges: Designer Norine Farah and Actress Jamila Awad.

“It’s such an inspirational thing that the winners’ designs get executed and showcased in El-Gouna. I hope this motivates them enough,” said Awad. “As an actress, I have a major role to motivate and inspire the upcoming local designers. TRESemmé paves the way to helping future designers put a step forward in the fashion scene and show their designs in the most fashion forward event in Egypt; El Gouna Film Festival.”

TRESemmé is a significant partner in international fashion shows, and Egypt’s fashion industry has been witnessing great development the past few years, which is why TRESemmé launched this competition here. Following the recognition Egyptian designers have been receiving lately, TRESemmé thought the competition will encourage young designers to get started by providing them with the publicity they need to delve into the fashion field. Being held during the festival has also allowed participants to learn from fashion icons who have shared their experiences.

The competition was one of many events TRESemmé was part of during this year’s festival. One of which was the largest hairdressing salon at the festival, which was created together with celebrities’ favorite hairdresser, Mohamed El Saghir, who has been using TRESemmé’s innovative products in his styling.

Innovation and cutting-edge quality are among Unilever’s assets. Great efforts have been put to support and encourage youth to become active members in their communities.

“TRESemmé’s competition is discovering talents of young Egyptian designers and enabling them to realize their full potential and sets them ready at the start of their professional career. Throughout two years of competition, TRESemmé has helped young designers feature their creative designs in GFF and Vogue Arabia, sending them to New York Fashion Week to equip the professional sides of their talents,” said Personal Care Marketing Director and Board Member of Unilever Mashreq Sherine Abdel Moneim.
