The leading Egyptian real estate developer, Inertia, has been taking a socially responsible and proactive approach since the beginning of the world’s battle with the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its resulting disease.
These measures and actions are not just protective, they further strive to help the residents of the company’s projects, their employees and their construction workers reach the best possible scenario in all aspects of life.
We decided to surf through Inertia’s efforts with their stakeholders and extract what lessons we can learn from them. Whether you’re a consumer or an entrepreneur, there is definitely a lot to take away from it.
Lesson #1: Sanitization and Disinfection are key, but so is Mental and Physical Health
On one hand, Inertia takes a well-rounded approach to sanitization, they started by providing free sanitization for the homes of their communities’ residents and conduct daily sanitization in their projects’ public spaces. Moreover; to ensure the safety of their community, they installed automatic sanitization tunnels which are equipped with a 360 disinfecting cabinet, a temperature reader and a hand sanitizer machine, all of which fully sanitize each person passing into the development.
Moreover, Inertia understands that maintaining physical and mental health during these tough times is of crucial importance and its absence could have drastic effects on us. That’s why they sent fitness kits to all their live-in residents.
Through collaborating with both Move and Eatducate, they sent out personalized fitness kits with workout equipment for both genders. Move provided the workout plan while Eatducate took care of recipes for immunity boosters.
Lesson #2 – Removing Obstacles Potential Clients Might Face Through Online Campaigning
Through a benefit-filled online campaign, Inertia took on a lot of measures to make sure their potential clients are satisfied and face no trouble in dealing with them.
Potential clients can now view, select and buy their units online from the comfort of their homes through Inertia’s website.
What’s more, there is no down payment required and no cancellation fees either. And when the time comes, when contracts need to be delivered, they are sent right to the doorsteps of their potential clients via Inertia Concierge.
For extra protection and in case their potential clients should show up at the office, they also installed a fully automated sanitizing tunnel to fully protect them.
Lesson #3: Safety and Well-Being of Employees are Just as Important
At the dawn of the global pandemic, Inertia took the initial step of reducing the number of employees who have to go to the office by 50% while the other half works from home. Gradually, however, the number of office employees working from home reached 100%!
They further provided them with stress management webinars with optional one-on-one sessions when requested. They’ve also collaborated with BeFit 360, offering the chance for employees to take part in the Ramadan Weight Loss Program which includes live sessions, mobility clinics and a nutritional guide.
Inertia even attended to the needs of the employees’ children. Through collaborating with Datifa, they created virtual camps in order to engage kids while in a safe environment. These online camps feature classes on arts & crafts, hip hop dancing, culture and yoga.
As a leading real estate developer, it’s needless to say that Inertia will require construction workers and engineers who have to regularly be on-site. Nevertheless, Inertia took to doing their best to ensure their safety as well. Equipping the sites with protective supplies like disinfectants, masks, gloves, chemical tools and materials was an obvious necessity. But again, they didn’t stop there.
They conducted trainings for on-site construction workers that could effectively help them mitigate the negative effects of the crisis. The COSHH Risk Assessor Certification granted by ‘The international Association for Chemical Safety’ and ‘Let’s Break the Chain of COVID-19 Infection’ granted by ‘The Mohammed Bin RashedUniversity of Medicine and health sciences’ were two of the most notable programs.
They also raised the on-site construction staff’s awareness about the necessary precautionary measures against COVID-19 and formed a panel on each site to watch the spread of the virus among workers as they check their temperatures twice daily (before they enter the construction site and as they exit it).
And most importantly, in accordance with the needed safe social distancing measures, Inertia worked to minimize the number of construction workers on each construction site.
Since its inception in 2007, Inertia has been set to establish close-knit and active communities. The actions they undertook in light of the COVID-19 crisis displayed and emphasized their proactivity and flexibility. It also exhibits how much they care about building safe, engaged and sustainable communities and work environments.
