Egyptian Manufacturers Put Their Employees First in COVID 19 Crisis

The Universal Home Appliances Group has taken the decision to increase the salaries of their workers and provide discounts on all their products in support of Egypt’s ‘White Army’ of doctors and nurses.

Chairman Dr. Yousry Qotb said, “we are committed to our workers and we will not abandon them. Our group will always stand by its employees, whose count has now reached approximately 10,000 engineers, technicians, employees and workers. We will not reduce their salaries or lay any of them off during such circumstances.”

The Universal Home Appliances Group also announced that it will support the role of Egypt’s doctors and nurses by providing special discount vouchers for them on all products produced by the company.

Do you think more companies should take such initiatives in maintaining employee salaries during the COVID 19 crisis?

Interestingly, El Araby, has posted a video on social media explaining that they are one family and that the hard times will only bring them closer. In the video, they advised people to ensure personal hygiene and said that the company has taken necessary precautionary measures to the point where each office has a unit in charge of handling health issues pertaining to the virus.

El Araby also assured its employees that no one would be laid off. Instead, “they are in talks to try and see how employees can get their salaries earlier than usual and perhaps an increase to help people maintain their lives as much as possible.”
