Earlier this month, Egyptian-American actor Rami Malek picked up a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture for his outstanding portrayal of Queen’s frontman, Freddie Mercury. Bohemian Rhapsody won Best Motion Picture, being the highest-grossing music biopic of all time.
Malek has just picked up an Academy Award nomination for his performance as Freddie Mercury, whilst the film has also been nominated in the Best Picture category. His Best Actor nomination is the actor’s first ever Oscar nod. Other Best Actor nominees are Bradley Cooper (A Star Is Born), Willem Defoe (At Eternity’s Gate), Viggo Mortensen (Green Book), Christian Bale (Vice).
